Taking Your Affirmations To The Next Level
I’d like to give you a simple tip for super-charging your affirmations. But first let’s get on the same page, no pun intended…
What Are Affirmations?
Affirmations are strategic, repetitive statements designed to instill confidence and alter behavior in a positive manner. Ideally this tactic is used with positive visualization.
The basic premise is simple: Write down a few sentences that state confidently how you want a certain area of your life to be; i.e. “I always have more than enough money for everything I desire.”
To be an effective reprogramming tool, your statement must be specific, positive (of course!), very clear on the details, and in the present tense.
Then read this statement out loud with absolute faith that it’s the truth. The more you affirm, the more likely your programming will take hold.
Does This Stuff Really Work?
Positive affirmations work. There’s no real room for debate here, because the science of it is quite simple:
Through repetition you can program the unconscious mind to believe whatever you like. And once this happens your thoughts and actions will automatically lead your life in the direction of the new beliefs.
The most important thing to understand is the need for consistency. You MUST perform your affirmations often!
I recommend at least once daily, with twice daily being ideal. After a morning meditation and right before bed are great times to affirm because your unconscious mind is more “accessible” at these junctures.
Now that we have the basics behind us let’s move onto my power tip.
Taking Affirmations To A Whole New Level
When writing your affirmations you most likely start off with somewhat formal lines. This is important because it allows you to be very succinct and to make a strong impression on your subconscious mind.
Look again at my example money affirmation:
“I always have more than enough money for everything I desire.”
This is a good one you can use. But can you spot an easy way to make this affirmation even more powerful?
It’s all in the “lingo”!
It’s important to keep your initial affirmations simple and clear so they can be absorbed and digested by the mind. At first you might feel like a liar when stating your affirmations, but over time they will begin to sink in; soon you’ll feel at ease and even excited when stating them.
And once you get to the point where you believe what you are affirming, it’s time to alter the wording slightly. Here’s what I mean…
If you were talking to a friend (or maybe talking aloud to yourself) about your state of great financial peace, would you say “You know, I’m just so glad that I always have more than enough money for everything I desire?”
Probably not. You might say something more along the lines of “Man it’s great to have a fat stack of cash in the bank and to have all my bills paid ahead of time!”
Can you see where I’m going with this? When you use verbage that reflects the way you really talk and think, your affirmation will become immensely more powerful!
So an easy way to get even better, faster results will all of your affirmations is to begin writing them in very casual language, just as if you’d say them to a friend off the top of your head. Of course you still need to make your statements very clear and specific, just allow yourself to relax and be less formal.
You might want to take this measure after you’ve been affirming something for a while. By being really formal in the beginning you can program your mind with the precise info needed; then once the affirmations begin to sound like the truth each time you state them you can make the switch to a more personal phrase.
Give this a shot and see if it helps you feel more comfortable and more empowered in your affirmations.
