Attitude Is The Definitive Factor
Positive thinking advocates have, for years, told us that our whole life is defined (and thus can be redefined) by the way we perceive and react to events and circumstances. In recent years science has supported this idea with the discovery that our ENTIRE experience of reality happens in the brain; i.e. everything we see, hear, touch, etc. is the result of our brain interpreting data and relaying signals and there is no conclusive proof that an “outside” world even exists.
When you consider this, it makes perfect sense that our attitudes, the way we choose to think and feel about ourselves and our life experience, is the primary factor that determines happiness, despair, frustration, or any other state of being.
We may or may not be able to take charge of the events that unfold in our life. Certainly we are a strong creative factor in all areas of life, but at the conscious level we are not always able to control and direct the way things play out.
However what we can control with 100% success and accuracy are our attitudes. We can absolutely, without a doubt, ALWAYS make a conscious decision about how to feel, think, and interpret the life experience.
This alone gives us absolute control over the life we have.
By choosing to view everything as part of your growth process, for example, you never again have to become upset about “failure” and things “not working out”. You can simply decide that every outcome teaches you at least one new thing and thus continues to move you toward your ultimate goals.
This is a very simple concept. But it takes some dedication and practice to master.
However time cultivating your ability to choose your attitude will be well spent. I believe sincerely that mastering your attitude and deliberately directing it in a positive manner is one of the most critical action steps toward happiness and fulfillment.
If you decide to feel happy and expect the best - even when you have to find it hiding under a “disappointment” - your life will be one of constant excitement, joy, and success. Not only will you become emotionally and spiritually unstoppable, you will begin to attract to you positive people and events that reflect your powerful and positive mental attitude.
I urge all readers to spend the next 30 days intentionally monitoring your attitude. When you find yourself getting angry, feeling sorry for yourself, or anything along these lines STOP!
Decide in the moment to find one or more good points about the situation that has upset or frustrated you. Take charge of your life right there on the spot and choose to feel good.
Before long you’ll find you are developing a mainly positive disposition. And from here you’ll have a clear head, less emotional “baggage”, and a much stronger focus with which to build.
